Born & RaisedI was born during the last century (1971) in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. My family moved to the town of Grimshaw, Alberta when I was about two years old. When I was nine, we moved from that town to a farm about eight kilometres away. When I was seventeen I left home to attend university and never returned, living in Camrose, Alberta for one year, in Whitecourt, Alberta during a couple of summer breaks, and then in Edmonton, Alberta until 1999. From 1999 until 2004 I lived in Bon Accord, Alberta, and I now live in Edmonton again. Learning
Earning a LivingI've done various jobs while I was in school: sub shop sandwich maker, office assistant, labourer, landscaper, telemarketer, phone researcher, radio operator, and library assistant. For the last eleven years I've worked as a junior high school teacher, teaching mostly Computers and a little bit of Language Arts. For the past three years, I've worked at T.D. Baker School. This coming school year, I will be teaching two grade 8 Language Arts, two grade 7 Computers classes, 1 grade 8 Computers, and 1 grade 9 Computers. I hesitate to put this next bit under the section, "Earning a Living", since it doesn't really apply, not for lack of my trying though. I also am a poet, songwriter and would-be novelist, and work part time as a teacher to essentially support this writing habit. Check out my writing section to read more about my vocation. Goofing Off
Non-court-ordered Community ServiceI volunteer at my synagogue's library and help out with our Women's League.Soul FoodI'm Jewish, by choice. I go to Beth Shalom, a Conservative synagogue in Edmonton. The story of that choice is told on the Jews For Judaism website and in this essay.
